Sophie was having more yeast problems. I notice her symptoms getting worse even though I was giving her probiotics with no fenol enzymes. With her chelating, that just wasn’t enough to keep the yeast monster at bay. She was spacey, spinning in circles, giggling, stimming and just not her normal self.
I have been giving her a drop or 2 of GSE with the ALA I use to chelate, but I just can’t stomach giving her more than that anymore, the taste is soooo awful. Well I posted on the gfcf yahoo group and a member mentioned giving more biotin. I was giving around 3000mcg (3mg) already, but this member pointed out that a b-50 has 50mg of biotin. Well I increased the biotin to around 15mg and that has made a huge difference.
She seems also to be constipated, probably impacted right now. I am increasing the magnesium which I would always do with biotin, because it can also be constipating. I have been using magnesium glycinate because the citrate form seems a bit rough on her system, and would cause diarrhea, I am thinking this might be welcomed right now so I may try the citrate for the next couple of days. I will update on how this works.

I’ll have to give biotin a try. Thanks for sharing this info!
You’re doing such an awesome job managing all of the biomed stuff…you’re an inspiration to the rest of us.
Comment by Chrissy on April 7th, 2009 @ 9:09 pmI give my daughter 30mg of Biotin on her chelation days and 20 on her off days. I also rotate with GSE, OoO and Curcumin. At round 30 the yeast is still there, but not as bad as before. Biotin really helps yeast from growing. It can be constipating though. Magnesium oxide is great for constipation. I sprinkle here and there everyday.
Comment by Michelle on April 26th, 2009 @ 10:44 amI’m very curious — which brand of b-50 vitamins contains 50 milligrams of biotin? Thanks!
Comment by Kelly on July 12th, 2009 @ 3:51 pmBiotin has 60 mcg of Biotin, micrograms not milligrams.
Comment by Michelle on July 12th, 2009 @ 5:02 pmSorry if the biotin in b-50 is incorrect. I was given incorrect info.

I’m glad I read this. I am working on my daughter’s yeast issues right now and I find that even with noFenol she breaks out when I give her GSE. I’ll go ahead and up the biotin, I think I’ll some some good results!
